Communication keys to involvement
When I moved to the US two years ago and found myself without my usual environment and language, I was very quiet and felt lonely. At that time, in addition to my low level of English, it was difficult for me to join a conversation also because of the speed of my interlocutors' pronunciation. I was surrounded by fluent conversations in English. Following the context by ear is difficult without daily speaking practice. But how can you gain practice in speaking English if you do not have a couple of dozen friends with whom you could chat about various everyday topics?
To minimize the feeling of being cut off from the context of life in the US, we are implementing the "Conversation Club for Refugees" project - a unique environment where a casual conversation with a friend from the US can become a reality. Where during the conversation you can focus on your pronunciation, learn new words and get gentle tips on grammar from a native speaker.
Such sessions also help to get to know and learn more about the culture, traditions and lifestyle of interlocutors from different countries. This project benefits from additional knowledge and networking.
